Providers
Our doctors and nurse practitioners are dedicated to the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases and connective tissue disorders. Conditions commonly treated include Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Lupus, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Osteoporosis, Vasculitis, Gout, Fibromyalgia, and many other illnesses.
The practice is comprised of six Board Certified Rheumatologists and three Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners.
We are conveniently located in Towson, MD and maintain admitting and consulting privileges at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Franklin Square Hospital.
Howard W. Hauptman, MD
Dr. Hauptman has been in private practice since 1987. He attended St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his Internship and Residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He continued his training with a Fellowship in Rheumatology, Immunology and Connective Tissue Disease at the Medical College of Virginia. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Dr. Hauptman serves as the Head of the Division of Rheumatology at Greater Baltimore Medical Center and Franklin Square Hospital Center. He serves as part-time faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology.
Tazeen Rehman, MD
Dr. Rehman joined Rheumatology Associates in September 2012 after completing her Rheumatology Fellowship at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency through Johns Hopkins University at Sinai Hospital here in Baltimore where she also served as a Hospitalist. Dr. Rehman is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Rheumatology.
Bansari Gujar, MD
Dr. Gujar joined Rheumatology Associates in September 2014. She graduated from University of Mumbai’s Terna Medical College in Mumbai, India in 2000. She then completed her Residency training in Internal Medicine from University of Illinois/Christ Hospital and Medical Center in 2005. She was on faculty at University of Michigan in the Division of General Internal Medicine for several years, prior to her Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Dr. Gujar is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
Sam Serafi, MD
Dr. Serafi joined Rheumatology Associates in August 2017 after completing his Rheumatology Fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital here in Baltimore. He looks forward to establishing himself as a provider in the Baltimore community and is interested in all aspects of Rheumatology. Dr. Serafi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
Pam Lentz, CRNP
Ms. Lentz graduated from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1984 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She worked five years at University of Maryland and for ten years at the world renowned Maryland Center for Limb Lengthening. In 2000 she graduated with her Masters degree from University of Maryland School of Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She worked for eight years in general orthopedics and then in general internal medicine before joining Rheumatology Associates in January 2012.
Seema Patel, MD
Dr. Patel joined Rheumatology Associates in December 2021 after being an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Rheumatology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems for several years. She served on the faculty as an academic teacher and mentored trainees at all levels. She completed her Rheumatology training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, specializing in vasculitis. . Dr. Patel is dedicated to her special interest in vasculitis.
Laura Becker, CRNP
Ms. Becker is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. She was then employed at the Georgetown University Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the intermediate care cardiac telemetry unit while pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing at Catholic University of America. She completed the Family Nurse Practitioner training at Catholic University and joined Rheumatology Associates of Baltimore in 2016
Amanda Auerbach, MD
Dr. Auerbach joined Rheumatology Associates of Baltimore in August 2024 after completing her Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She completed her Internal medicine Residency in 2022, also at the University of Maryland. Dr. Auerbach is interested in all aspects of Rheumatology and is enthusiastic about establishing her clinical practice in Baltimore County, returning to the area where she grew up.
Annabel Wallace, CRNP
Ms. Wallace graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at the University of Maryland Medical Center for two years in Surgical Intermediate Care and Neonatal Intensive Care. She then spent six years working for Kaiser Permanente in primary care in Seattle, WA. In 2021, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Georgetown University. She worked for Planned Parenthood of WA before returning to Maryland and joining Rheumatology Associates of Baltimore in 2022.
